The Bases are Loaded

Filed under: politics — codesmithy @ 8:02 am

The above video goes over the problems and implications of U.S. military bases overseas.  The U.S. embassy is more like an extravagant palace than a modest diplomatic center.  It, with the military bases in the region, represent a continuing, dominant U.S. presence in Iraq.  Bush will not withdraw, and seeks to establish a political environment to ensure his successor will not either.  These bases directly threaten our security at home, abroad and breed ill-will towards our country and our people.  The sentiment of American arrogance abroad is therefore not undeserved.  The U.S. has to come to terms that there are very serious internal problems based on energy dependence on fossil fuels that are the basis of these ill-fated foreign tragedies.  The U.S. may be in denial, but reality is a hell of an arbiter.
